Privacy Policy

The short version: PiggyBankMath stores a first name, an age and math practice results for each child, plus the running total of what they earned and what you paid them. It has no advertising, no analytics and no tracking of any kind, it never sees a card or a bank account, and you can export or permanently delete everything yourself at any time.

Who runs this

PiggyBankMath is built and operated by one independent developer in New York. It is not a company, and there is no team. Questions about anything on this page go to hello@piggybankmath.com.

Who the account belongs to

Accounts are created by a parent or legal guardian who is 18 or older. Children do not have their own accounts, do not sign in, and never enter an email address. A child uses the app inside the parent's signed-in session on the parent's device. Everything about a child is entered by the parent.

What is collected

From you, the parent

• Your email address and a display name.
• Your password, which is handled entirely by Google Firebase Authentication. It is never visible to PiggyBankMath and is not stored in its database.
• A four digit PIN you choose to keep children out of the parent screens.
• Your settings: which day you treat as payday, and whether you pay per session or per correct answer.

About each child, entered by you

• A first name or nickname, whichever you type. There is no requirement to use a real or full name.
• An age, a color and an emoji avatar.
• A four digit PIN for switching between children.

Generated as a child practices

• Which math facts were attempted, whether each answer was correct, and how long each answer took.
• Session records: date, operation, number correct, accuracy and the amount earned.
• Practice streaks and the date of the last session.
• Results of the optional placement assessment, including per question timings.

Money records

• The earn rate and daily cap you set, the running balance, and lifetime totals earned and paid.
• Each payout you record, with its date and amount.
• Each balance adjustment, with its date, amount and the reason you typed. Reasons are free text, so please do not put anything sensitive in them.

What is never collected

• No payment information. No card number, no bank account, no payment processor. PiggyBankMath never moves money. See the Terms.
• No advertising and no analytics. There are no ad networks, no tracking pixels, no analytics scripts and no behavioral profiling. This is verifiable: the site loads no analytics code at all.
• No child contact details. No child email address, phone number or username.
• No location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera access.
• Nothing is ever sold, rented, or shared with advertisers or data brokers. There is no circumstance in which that changes without your explicit consent.

Where the data lives, and who else can see it

Data is stored in Google Firebase Realtime Database and served by Firebase Hosting, on servers in the United States. Google acts as the infrastructure provider. Firebase security rules restrict every record to the parent account that created it.

Two other third parties receive your IP address purely because your browser loads files from them when a page opens: Google Fonts (the typeface) and unpkg (an icon library). Neither receives any account, child or practice data.

No one else has access. There are no employees, contractors, marketing tools, CRMs or support platforms connected to this data.

Children's privacy and COPPA

PiggyBankMath is intended for children roughly 6 to 13 years old, used with a parent, and is designed to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act.

• Only a parent or legal guardian can create an account, and doing so is the point at which consent is given.
• A child is never asked for personal information directly. The parent enters the child's name and age.
• Only the minimum needed to run the app is collected. Nothing about a child is used for advertising, profiling or any purpose beyond showing you and them their own practice and earnings.
• A child's information is never a condition of participating in anything beyond the app itself.
• As the parent you can review everything, export it, correct it, or delete it permanently at any time, and you can refuse further collection by deleting the child or the account.

Seeing, exporting and deleting data

• See it: everything about a child is visible in the app on that child's detail screen.
• Export it: the Bank tab has a Download CSV button that exports the complete history of sessions, payouts and adjustments as a single file.
• Delete a child: removing a child in Settings permanently deletes their profile, balance, practice history, payouts and adjustments. There is no archive and no undo. Take the CSV first if you want a copy.
• Delete everything: email hello@piggybankmath.com from your account address and the entire account and all associated child records will be deleted.

How long data is kept

Data is kept only while your account exists, because its whole purpose is to be an ongoing record of what a child earned and what you paid. It is not retained indefinitely for any other reason. When you delete a child, that child's records are removed immediately. When you delete your account, everything goes with it.

Security, described honestly

Access is controlled by Firebase Authentication and Firebase security rules, so one parent account cannot read another's data. Traffic is encrypted in transit.

Two things are worth stating plainly rather than implying otherwise. The four digit PINs are a convenience gate to stop a child wandering into the parent screens on a shared device; they are not encryption and not a security boundary. And no service can promise perfect security, this one included. If a breach ever affected your data you would be emailed directly.

This is a beta

PiggyBankMath is free and in active development. Features change. Please use the CSV export if you want your own copy of the record, and see the Terms for what that means.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected or who can see it, the date at the top changes and you will be emailed before the change takes effect. Material changes to how a child's information is handled will always ask for your consent again.
